On April 9th and 10th, the Soddy Daisy High School Forensics Team virtually competed at the Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League District Tournament. The students competed individually in public speaking, and acting events. The entire team of 18 students placed at the District Tournament  in each of their events and advanced to compete at the State Tournament.

The forensics team also competed in a group event called, “Interpretive Theatre” which is a performance using a collection of literature, they placed second and will go on to compete at the State tournament. The team included students, Clayton McFarland (10th), Ella Hassler(11th), Kaelan Mullins(11th), Canyon McGill (9th), and Lorelie Tinney(10th).

“What I love most about forensics, is watching my students grow in self-confidence and become strong communicators. Performing in a competition can be a very intimidating experience, but these students learn to be brave and courageous. And these are the things that we teachers want all of our students to take with them when they leave high school.” says Mrs. Boydston.
